Application for flexible salmon season rod - 2026

1. Season: 1st May 2026 to 1st October 2026.
2. Fishing may not commence before *9.00 a.m. (unless by prior arrangement) and shall cease at 8 p.m. *In order to assist with weed cutting on the river, we reserve the right to postpone the starting time for Fishing until 10.30am during weed cut and clearing down days in May, June, July and August, as set by the Test & Itchen Association (a copy of these dates is available on request). PLEASE RING THE DAY BEFORE TO CHECK during these periods.
3. If a beat holder has not arrived on his beat by noon and has not notified the Bailiff or the Company previously of late arrival the Company reserve the right to either fish the beat or let the beat for that day and keep the rod
   fee.
4. Beats: The salmon fishing is divided into 3 beats the appropriate position of which is shown for illustrative purposes on the reverse of this form.
5. A Flexible Season rod allows 18 days salmon fishing to be taken during the season on the following basis:
   1. 18 days to be spread over the season, with a maximum of 6 visits in any one month. 
   2. Up to 9 of the 18 days can be pre-booked at the time of returning this booking form. The remaining days may be booked from 4 weeks before your chosen day up to the day before.
   3. All chosen dates are subject to availability.
   4. If some/all of your initial 9 chosen dates are not available you will be offered alternative dates. If these alternative dates are not suitable you may ask for a total refund of any monies paid to that point and your flexible salmon season rod booking will be cancelled.
6. A “Mini” Flexible Season rods allows for 10 days salmon fishing to be taken during the season on the following basis:
   1. 10 days to be spread over the season, with a maximum of 3 visits in any one month.
   2. Up to 5 of the 10 days can be pre-booked at the time of returning this booking form. The remaining days may be booked from 4 weeks before your chosen day up to the day before.
   3. All chosen dates are subject to availability.
   4. If some/all of your initial 5 chosen dates are not available you will be offered alternative dates. If these alternative dates are not suitable you may ask for a total refund of any monies paid to that point and your mini flexible salmon season rod booking will be cancelled.
7. Rods must keep strictly to the beat booked for the day and not under any circumstances stray onto other beats.
8. Methods of Fishing: No worms, and as per Environment Agency Byelaws and Fishery/Company rules which may come into effect.
9. To ensure that salmon fishing continues, the fishery now operates a 100% Catch & Release policy for all salmon caught.
10. Brown trout fishing is restricted to 2 fish per beat per day.
11. Records: A return of all fish caught giving date, number, approx. weight and lure must be made to the Bailiff or, in his absence, recorded on the day of capture in the Fishing Record Book, in the Fishing Lodge. This must include sea trout and brown trout, and all catch and release including sea trout.
12. Payment: Full payment or a 50% deposit with the booking form will secure your booking, subject to availability. Where a deposit has been paid the remainder will be payable by 1st March 2026. If full payment has not been received by that date, the management reserves the right to re-let the rod and no monies paid will be returned.

General

1. No person may sub-let his beat or rod.
2. Cancellations: Once a booking is accepted by the Company no monies paid are refundable. However, the Company may, at their discretion, refund all or part of the rod fees if the relevant days are re-let as a season
   rod. 
3. No wading is allowed.
4. The Bailiff is allowed to fish when asked explicitly to do so by the Rod holder.
5. The Fishing Lodge and Huts are available to all rods and their guests. (There may be occasions when the management require the use of the Lodge and prior notice will be posted in the Fishing Lodge). The Fishing
   Lodge must be kept locked when not in use.
6. Environment Agency Byelaws to be strictly observed at all times.
7. All rods and their guests must hold a current Environment Agency Rod Licence.
8. Dogs are permitted provided that they are kept under strict control at all times. The Company can accept no responsibility for dogs. All persons bringing dogs will be held liable for all damage caused by such dogs.
9. The Company cannot be held responsible for any fishing tackle or other property left at the fishery. Cars, with their contents, taken on the fishery are entirely at owners risk and responsibility. 
10. All beat holders and guests enter upon the river banks, staging, sluices, bridges roadways, buildings and all parts of the property of the Company and fishery entirely at their own risk.
11. Gates on the fishery should be left open or closed/locked as found.
12. Weed cutting may take place during the set weed cutting periods, a copy of which is available on request.
13. 10mph speed limit on the fishery's roads. There is a height restriction of 8' 2" (2.45m) under the Motorway bridge. 
14. The Company will not be held responsible, and in line with general practice, cannot give refunds for fishing for any matters affecting the fishing for circumstances entirely beyond its control including being spoilt by
    inclement weather or poor water conditions . If you want to take out insurance against this, you can book individual days via www.fishpal.com and take out their optional insurance. 
15. In order to preserve salmon stocks, in exceptional years during prolonged very hot spells it may be necessary to suspend salmon fishing either at 1pm should the water temperature at 9.00 a.m. that morning be 19oc or
    above or cease fishing when temperatures reach 20 oc. (Depending on current advice from the Environment Agency). During such hot spells we suggest you contact the keeper in the morning before setting off to check
    the water temperatures and if they are too hot to change your fishing day if wished.

Important note

This "Flexible"and “Mini Flexible” salmon season rod are only two of the option for salmon fishing. The other option is for a traditional named day a fortnight/week as shown on the Trout & Salmon Season Rod booking form with prices set out in the 2026 price list.
