Methods of fishing?

Salmon: Spinning; prawn fishing after 16th June; heavy weighted nymph. No worms allowed.

Can I keep my catch?

Trout: You may keep up to 4 trout if you are fishing on your own on a trout beat or 6 if fishing with a guest. If you are fishing on a salmon beat you may take a maximum of 2 trout per beat. No trout under 12” to be killed unless diseased or in very bad condition.

Salmon: ALL salmon must be released. There are best practice methods for catch and release and these include:

  • Minimise air exposure, ideally not removing the fish from the water during landing, unhooking and photographing.
  • Use fish-friendly landing nets with soft knotless mesh to help protect the fish from abrasion injury.
  • Handle fish gently with wet hands and do not squeeze as this can damage internal organs. Touching the gills and eyes should be avoided.
  • Always support the fish under the belly and keep in an upright / horizontal position, preferably underwater and facing into the current.
  • Remove the hook with a long pair of forceps, disgorger or another unhooking device. When it is not be possible to remove the hook, cut the leader as close to the hook as possible as the hook will work its way out. This is less damaging than prolonged handling.

Sea Trout: Sea trout can be kept. No sea trout under 15" in length to be killed unless diseased or in very bad condition.

Coarse fish and Grayling: All coarse fish and grayling must be returned.

Can I bring a non-fishing guest?

We offer corporate fishing events for up to 18 rods where everything is provided – you just need to invite your guests and turn up. If necessary, receive tuition from a ghillie and be provided with the correct tackle and a selection of flies. Mid-morning coffee and biscuits are served on the riverbank and a lunch (choice of menus) followed by fishing and a cream tea. For those wanting to stay on later for the evening rise we can organise a snack before departure.
